Deep Dive: Switching from Hevy Pro to FitNotes
Trade-offs, installation & data architecture
What you trade away
FitNotes is Android-only and gives up Hevy's iOS/web presence, social feed, friend comparisons, richer exercise media, and polished cloud synchronization.
How to deploy FitNotes
Install the Android app from Google Play
Where your data lives
Workout routines, exercise history, measurements, and notes live in the app's local database; optional backups can be written to the user's Google Drive.
Why fork FitNotes instead of vibe-coding a Hevy Pro clone?
The core loop is small enough for a capable coding agent to produce a useful local version in one sitting. For Hevy Pro, log workouts and routines locally with neutral progress charts. The hard boundary is mobile apps, social features, watch integration, sync, and polished tracking, plus hardware data, content, coaching, and trust.
